CURRENT NEEDS
As you think about NavYouth and pray for us, our biggest need is people- men and women who walk closely with God and have a heart for teenagers and discipleship. Just as Jesus told his disciples …“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest,” (Matthew 9:37-38). Our ministry philosophy is both time and labor intensive. It takes special people, and many of them, to individually mentor teens. Pray with us for these laborers, and consider getting involved yourself. Volunteers as well as staff are needed in all of our current locations. It doesn’t take a professional to have an impact on a student.
Secondarily, but nonetheless important, ministry funding is also a real need. I am sure this is not a surprise to anyone in today’s economy. For the most part youth ministry in general, and NavYouth in particular, is staffed by young adults with limited experience and a limited number of contacts from whom to seek support. Throw in a weak economy and you have the makings of a perfect storm, an economic storm. Please pray for our staff in this regard and consider a helping hand for one of them, even if only for one time.
And finally, and perhaps most importantly, we need a consistent and growing dependence on our Lord for lasting, life changing results in the lives of students. ”Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain,” (Psalms 127:1). Whether trying to grow a ministry nationally or just being available to know and love an individual student, God does the building. He changes lives, we don’t. Pray with us that we NEVER lose sight of that fact.
